Who owns what

One person is responsible for a deal at every stage, and who that is depends on the kind of deal. Set the grid once — every deal that arrives inherits it, and whoever picks up a stage gets an email.

How this behaves

New deals inherit the grid. Nothing is copied onto the deal, so editing the grid re-points every deal that hasn't been given a specific person — no stale owners left behind.
Any deal can differ. Reassign a single stage from the deal's own page; that choice sticks and is never overwritten by a later change here.
Handoffs are emailed. When a deal lands in a stage, whoever owns that stage gets a mail with the deal and a link. Moving a deal between two stages the same person owns doesn't spam them.
A blank cell means nobody. Deals sitting in an unowned stage are flagged Unassigned on the pipeline.
